The Sacramento Kings have undergone some massive changes over the last 12 months, and with a new roster, they hope to turn their fortunes around in 2025-26.

The Sacramento Kings have made a lot of big changes over the last year. In the middle of last season, the Kings fired Mike Brown as head coach.

Just a few months later, the Kings would trade De’Aaron Fox and land Zach LaVine as part of a three-team deal.

To add to their depth, the Kings landed Dennis Schroder. But the one man the Kings have their eye on is Jonathan Kuminga.

With the Warriors unlikely to trade Kuminga to the Kings, the franchise might have to make do with the roster they have.

2025-26 Sacramento Kings projected starting lineup

The Sacramento Kings have been one of the quieter teams this offseason, holding onto most of their pieces while adding very little.

This is what the Kings’ lineup and rotation are expected to look like:

Starting Lineup Second Unit
Dennis Schroder Devin Carter
Zach LaVine Malik Monk
DeMar DeRozan Doug McDermott
Keegan Murray Drew Eubanks
Domantas Sabonis Dario Saric

Some fans might be wondering why Malik Monk features in the rotation, given that the Kings tried to trade him this summer.

The conjecture right now is that the Kings are trying to keep Monk while still trying to sign his former LA Lakers teammate, Russell Westbrook.

While Westbrook’s arrival isn’t a guarantee, the Kings are trying their best to find a way to sign the former MVP ahead of the new season. His arrival could alter the rotation structure heavily.

Sacramento Kings need a lot of luck to compete in Western Conference

The last few years have seen a slight improvement for the Sacramento Kings in the Western Conference. In 2023, they broke a 16-year playoff drought and made the postseason.

In 2024, the Kings made the play-in tournament but lost to the New Orleans Pelicans and were eliminated from the postseason.

Last season, the Kings failed to make the playoffs entirely, a steep decline from where they were two seasons ago.

If the Kings want to make a playoff run next season, they need a lot of things to go in their favor, as their roster isn’t as strong as some of the heavy hitters in the Western Conference.
