Nine-time NBA All-Star Russell Westbrook has agreed on a deal to sign with the Sacramento Kings. The 2017 league MVP enters his 18th NBA season.
The Kings and Westbrook had mutual interest with one another before this signing. He will continue his illustrious Hall of Fame career.
Westbrook is a good fit for the Kings. He provides the team with much-needed energy and playmaking alongside center Domantas Sabonis.
He was one of the most productive bench players last year in the NBA. Teams that have had him on the roster have been to the playoffs in nine of the previous 10 seasons.
While some might question his fit alongside the current core, his ability to attack the paint is still elite. They need that relentless drive, especially heading into a competitive playoff picture next season.
This season is all about culture-building in Sacramento. Who Westbrook is, and how he plays, are perfect for the culture the Kings are trying to establish.
Kings adding 18-year vet Westbrook shows they’re serious about winning. Young backcourt gets playoff-tested leadership, while Westbrook links up with familiar faces Sabonis and shooting guard Zach LaVine.
His polarization has got to be greater than any polarized character in the history of humankind. The man signing with the Kings has currently shaken the internet.
