As of Feb. 28, the Sacramento Kings have a comfortable lead over the Phoenix Suns for the last spot in the Western Conference Play-In Tournament. If everything remains the same, the Kings will have to beat the Dallas Mavericks and then either the Minnesota Timberwolves or Golden State Warriors to make the postseason for just the second time in 20 seasons.
There is no doubt that Sacramento has the talent to go on a run, but the fit between their best players is still questionable, although Zach LaVine is quickly finding his footing.
DeMarcus Cousins is one of the best players to suit up for the Kings in recent memory, and he has confidence the team can make the postseason, which he never was able to do.
"I think they're good enough to get in," said Cousins of the Kings' playoff chances.
Cousins played parts of seven seasons with the Kings, averaging 21.1 points and 10.8 rebounds. He made three All-Star Games with the Kings, but only cracked the 30-win mark once, never finishing with a winning record.
"The Warriors are playing so well right now," countered Chandler Parsons. "If Dallas can figure out a way to get healthy, Timberwolves, Dallas, Golden State, I think they're all three better than Sacramento."
However, Cousins isn't the only former player who has faith in the Kings.
"I say in," finished Lou Williams. "Just knowing the mentality of those guys, I feel like they'll give themselves a chance to get in."
All it takes is two wins in a row to make the playoffs from the Play-In Tournament, and the streaky Kings can't be counted out.
