San Antonio Spurs starting point guard De’Aaron Fox will miss the start of the 2025-26 regular season.

The lefty told reporters at media day that he’s dealing with a hamstring issue.

De’Aaron Fox signed a four-year, $229 million extension with the Spurs this offseason. Rich Paul of Klutch Sports Group is Fox’s agent.

A Kentucky product, Fox was traded by the Sacramento Kings to San Antonio last season. The All-Star appeared in 17 games with the Spurs before undergoing season-ending surgery to repair tendon damage in his left pinkie. He averaged 19.7 points, 4.3 rebounds and 6.8 assists.

Fox played in 62 games with the Kings and Spurs last season. He averaged 23.5 points, 4.8 rebounds and 6.3 assists while shooting 46.3% from the field, 31.0% from beyond the arc and 82.7% from the free-throw line.

A one-time All-Star, Fox will make $37.1 million this season. The 27-year-old has career averages of 21.5 points, 3.9 rebounds and 6.1 assists with the Kings and Spurs.

The Spurs haven’t made the playoffs since 2019, but they have a bright future with Fox, Stephon Castle and Victor Wembanyama leading the way. San Antonio also has Dylan Harper, the second overall pick from this year’s NBA Draft.

Wembanyama only played in 45 games for the Spurs last season. He has fully recovered from the blood clot in his right shoulder.

Fox and Wembanyama appear to be a dynamic one-two punch on paper. Wembanyama averaged 24.3 points, 11.0 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 3.8 blocks last season while shooting 47.6% from the field, 35.2% from beyond the arc and 83.6% from the free-throw line.

San Antonio selected Wembanyama with the first pick in the 2023 NBA Draft. The big man has career averages of 22.5 points, 10.8 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 3.7 blocks.
