There’s a lot of unknown with Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant and what’s next for his future. Many have linked Durant and the San Antonio Spurs as potential partners for the 2025-26 NBA season. There have been talks that the Spurs could make a deal with the Suns to acquire KD and team him up with Victor Wembanyama.
Creating a duo with two lengthy and elite stars might be a problem for the other 29 teams. The Spurs have the assets to make a deal, including the No. 2 pick, which the organization could use to draft a talent like Dylan Harper.
However, many have suggested that the Spurs make a move and make a deal for Durant. Adding him to the roster gives the team another veteran leader who has won a lot in the NBA, including two championships.
On Friday’s episode of FanDuel TV’s “Run It Back,” former NBA player Quentin Richardson suggested the Spurs should pursue a deal to acquire the 15-time All-Star. According to Richardson, the duo of Durant and Wembanyama makes perfect sense as it would help the Frenchman’s development.
“If KD get there, obviously, he’s gonna play well,” Richardson said. “KD could play with anybody, we all know that.
“I think, that would be great for Wemby’s development to be able to practice and see what he goes through and how he goes about his business on a daily and he can pick and choose what to take from him and learn from him.
Can you imagine Wemby getting to learn from KD in San Antonio?!

“I think San Antonio is in a great position,” he continued. “If anybody got sense, you go down there and you link up that big fella. He gonna be the face in a couple of years.”
The San Antonio Spurs have one of the best picks in the 2025 NBA Draft with their No. 2 pick. However, other teams want to acquire what the Spurs have and make a trade. According to ClutchPoints, the Brooklyn Nets are the team that has shown interest in the draft asset. Nets’ general manager Sean Marks reportedly want to get into the top three and potentially draft Harper.
“Rival teams are expecting Marks to try and acquire a second lottery pick by utilizing the 19th, 26th, and 27th picks in the first round of this year’s draft,” Brett Siegel wrote. “Talk from Chicago’s combine also points to Brooklyn leveraging the eighth pick in a package to try and acquire Harper.”
However, it’s still unclear if the San Antonio Spurs are willing to give their draft pick away.
