The San Antonio Spurs have a terrific young core that could win them multiple NBA Championships in the future.
Victor Wembanyama is undoubtedly the cornerstone superstar for the San Antonio Spurs. By his side, the Spurs also have reigning NBA Rookie of the Year Stephon Castle.
To make things better, the Spurs also had the No. 2 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. The organization used it to draft another talented point guard, Dylan Harper.
Lastly, the franchise also has De’Aaron Fox in the veteran role, who signed a massive $229m contract extension with the team.
While the Spurs have a phenomenal core, most of them are still in the budding stages of their careers.
As a result, it’s only wise to hire a talented player development coach. According to NBA insider Michael Scotto, former 2x NBA All-Star Rashard Lewis has been handed that task by the Spurs.
“Rashard Lewis will be a San Antonio Spurs player development coach. He was a two-time NBA All-Star and 2013 champion who averaged 14.9 points in 16 seasons with the Seattle SuperSonics, Orlando Magic, Washington Wizards, and Miami Heat.
“He was also a Detroit Pistons assistant coach,” Scotto reported via X.

During the prime of his career, Lewis was one of the most prolific forwards in the NBA, evident by his two All-Star selections.
However, by the early 2010s, Lewis was a role player for the Washington Wizards. He later joined the Miami Heat for the final two seasons of his career.
Lewis was part of the Heat’s 2013 NBA Championship-winning roster featuring the likes of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh.
He was also part of the Heat’s roster in 2014 as they were defeated by none other than the Spurs in the NBA Finals.
