San Antonio Spurs Legend Reacts To Jrue Holiday’s Boston Celtics Heroics
Trevor Ruszkowski-USA TODAY Sports

Getting Jrue Holiday during the previous offseason proved to be instrumental for the Boston Celtics successful campaign this year, especially during the playoffs. As such, San Antonio Spurs legend Manu Ginobili acknowledged the point guard’s importance by praising his recent Game 3 performance.

Before Holiday made his way to Boston, the veteran point guard played three seasons with Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks . During those three years, he averaged 18.5 points, 4.7 rebounds, 6.8 assists, and 1.5 steals per game while playing impressively on the defensive end of the court. His run in Milwaukee eventually led to a championship back in 2021 over the Chris Paul-led Phoenix Suns.

Due to the Bucks getting Damian Lillard, Holiday found himself being acquired by Boston after he was traded from Milwaukee to the Portland Trail Blazers. At 33 years old, Holiday continues to play at a high level, especially on defense. In 69 regular season games, the two-time All-Star point guard is tallying 12.5 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 4.8 assists while averaging 1.8 turnovers, the lowest of his entire career.

Holiday has, more or less, maintained those numbers throughout the playoffs this year. And with the Celtics within striking distance of the NBA Finals, the veteran point guard has a chance to win another ring after getting one in 2021.

San Antonio Spurs Icon Manu Ginobili Reacts To Jrue Holiday’s Heroics For Boston Celtics’ Game 3 Win

After Boston took hold of a 3-0 lead against the Indiana Pacers, several personalities gave their take on the huge win. Among them was Spurs icon Manu Ginobili and his tweet praising Holiday’s Game 3 performance on X:

“Jrue Holiday! What a player!” Ginobili tweeted.

During the dying seconds of Game 3, Holiday drove to the basket against All-Star forward Pascal Siakam and got a three-point play in the process. He also swiped the ball from Andrew Nembhard’s possession and was fouled again, which led to two more free throws. Those two plays helped sealed the win for Boston as the Pacers are down 0-3 in this series.

With only one game remaining for the Celtics to advance, there’s a good chance Holiday gets to compete again in the Finals.  His experience, defensive prowess, and high intellect will surely come in handy by then. If they do reach that point, expect the veteran point guard to come up big against their opponents.
