San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama is one of the promising stars in the NBA. Even opposing stars have acknowledged his talent and his potential. Which is why there have been experienced players who have given Wembanyama advice on how to grow in the NBA since he was drafted in 2023. Wemby revealed at the Fanatics Fest in New York City that he takes the advice given to him to heart.
Stars like LeBron James, Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry have all given him advice since his rookie year. The one-time All-Star said that he’s kept whatever his peers have told him on his phone. He also keeps the questions that he wants to ask the accomplished stars on his phone, always ready to ask away.
According to Wemby, he took time to talk to Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic during the 2025 NBA All-Star Weekend in San Francisco. The Spurs star revealed that he talked to Jokic for 45 minutes as All-Star teammates.
“I have a note on my phone with questions to ask the guys, KD [Kevin Durant], ‘Bron [LeBron James],” Wembanyama said via Josh Paredes’ post on X. “”I had the chance to talk to [Nikola] Jokić for 45 minutes at All-Star [weekend]. And I’m taking notes… When I’m told something, I don’t forget it. It’s super precious, for sure.”

During the 2024-25 season, the Nuggets star spoke highly of the Spurs’ big man.
“I think he’s better this year than last year, and I think he’s going to get even better,” Jokic said. “I think he’s a special player. I think he’s one of a kind and is going to be remembered forever.”
The San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama filmed an episode of the show “Cold as Balls,” hosted by famed comedian Kevin Hart. They talked about various things, but one question that Hart asked
Wemby led to the young star taking a shot at NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal.
Hart asked Wembanyama about his thoughts on the former Los Angeles Lakers star calling the modern NBA “soft.” The Spurs star defended the current state of the league and took a shot at O’Neal.
“Shaq has always been one of my favorite players. But one of the journalists I like the least,” Wembanyama said.
Victor Wembanyama just taped an episode of Cold As Balls with Kevin Hart, where he was asked about Shaquille O’Neal’s claim that today’s NBA is “too soft.” Wemby responded with a smile, saying Shaq has always been one of his favorite players—but also one of his least favorite… pic.twitter.com/bQeVajkoSv

O’Neal has always been critical of how modern big men settle for long-range shots instead of using their size to dominate inside the paint. That was how big men played during Shaq’s time, but things have changed. Players are far more skilled now, since big men do more than post up and block shots.
