Victor Wembanyama has announced he’s officially recovered from the blood clot in his shoulder :
“I'm officially cleared to return. It just happened — I got the green light from the Spurs' medical staff just a few hours ago (last Friday). Phew, I’ll…
Victor Wembanyama averaged 24.3 points, 11.0 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 3.8 blocks last season for the Spurs in 45 games while shooting 47.6% from the field, 35.2% from beyond the arc and 83.6% from the free-throw line. He made his first All-Star team.
The Spurs haven’t made the playoffs since 2019. However, they have a very bright future with Wembanyama, De’Aaron Fox, Stephon Castle and Dylan Harper leading the way.
Wembanyama has career averages of 22.5 points, 10.8 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 3.7 blocks. He’s led the NBA in blocks per game both years as a pro.
NBA legend Kevin Durant wanted to get traded to the Spurs this offseason to play with Wembanyama and Fox. However, San Antonio wasn’t that interested in trading for Durant, who got traded to the Houston Rockets.
Sources told Dallas Hoops Journal that the Spurs are saving their trade assets for Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo, who remains open-minded about leaving the Bucks, according to NBA insider Shams Charania of ESPN.
“Giannis Antetokounmpo is open-minded and considering other options outside of Milwaukee,” Charania said on the Stephen A. Smith Show. “He has not requested a trade yet, but he remains open-minded, from my understanding.
“One thing about Giannis is that he always plays things close to the vest. The moment he feels like in Milwaukee they’re not competing for a championship, he’s going to look around. He has said that on the record.”
The Spurs would be title favorites with Wembanyama, Antetokounmpo and Fox leading the way.
However, Antetokounmpo hasn’t requested a trade from Milwaukee yet.
