The learning curve for Los Angeles Lakers guard Bronny James remains high as he tries to make a name for himself in his rookie stint in the NBA.
He's trying to make the most of his limited minutes, while also getting additional experience with the South Bay Lakers in the G League, where he made his debut on Saturday.
It's no secret that the 20-year-old James has a lot of haters. Before he even played a millisecond for the Lakers, many belittled his entry to the league and discredited his talent.
Amid the heavy scrutiny, James' mother and Lakers superstar LeBron James' wife, Savannah James, admitted that she's overprotective of their three children. She shared that she even tried to confront a heckler for disrespecting their eldest son.
"When I had the baby (Zhuri James) on my hip, I was about to go and try to fight a man," she said on her "Everybody's Crazy" podcast. "He was flicking Bronny off in a game.
"And you know how you say you gotta be an adult and talk to the people head-on, I marched up them bleachers with Zhuri, little tiny Zhuri."
She didn't specify when or where it happened, but the incident remained vivid in her mind, describing it as "crazy stuff" and "odd."
"What am I going to do?" she added. "I'm talking to a man, 'So you flicking my son off? That's what we doing at this game?'"
She and her co-host, April McDaniel, discussed how "unfortunate" it is to see how full-grown adults can become "hurtful" and "cruel" against young players during a game.
However, throughout the years, being the wife of one of the most famous individuals on the planet, Savannah James has learned to pick her battles.
