Seth Curry doesn't want 76ers to trade Ben Simmons: 'He's still a great player'

Count Seth Curry among the players who does not want to see the Philadelphia 76ers trade Ben Simmons this offseason.

Curry said in an interview with WPVI Philadelphia's Jeff Skversky that he wants Simmons to return next season, adding that the 24-year-old still is a good player:

"I know everybody's talking about different things our team can do. I love playing with Ben. He made me a better player, individually. He made our team better all season long. He's still a great player. He obviously had a rough playoffs and we know that story but I mean, the front office is gonna do whatever is best for the team. I'm sure of it and if that means Ben coming back, I hope for it and I'm looking forward to playing with him again. He's a great player. He made me better as a player and I know he's gonna be in the gym working hard too."

Trade rumors surrounding Simmons began after the Sixers were eliminated from the postseason. The Australian had a hideous playoff run and even took the blame for the Sixers' second-round playoff exit, saying, "There's a lot of things that I need to work on."

Despite his struggles, 76ers head coach Doc Rivers said earlier this month that he wants Simmons back next season. However, that does not mean a trade is off the table.

The Sixers reportedly turned down a trade offer for Simmons from the Indiana Pacers that included Malcolm Brogdon and a first-round pick. 76ers general manager Elton Brand also reportedly met with Minnesota Timberwolves president of basketball operations Gersson Rosas at the NBA combine and discussed a Simmons trade.

Although Simmons has some scoring deficiencies, he'd be a solid acquisition for almost any team in the NBA. While it's unclear which way the Sixers front office might be leaning, they're certainly doing their due diligence in scoping out the market.
