The Golden State Warriors entered Thursday’s Game 2 matchup against the Minnesota Timberwolves looking to take a commanding 2-0 lead in the series.
Golden State able to steal Game 1 of the series behind a great defensive performance along with a great offensive showing from Jimmy Butler, Buddy Hield and Draymond Green.
Of course, the headline coming out of Game 1 was Stephen Curry’s hamstring injury, which is set to keep him sidelined for at least one week.
Without Curry in Game 2, the Warriors struggled as they were blown out by the Timberwolves 117-93.
This was a devastating loss for the Warriors and it is clear that they need Curry to return as soon as possible if they want to have a chance to advance to the Western Conference Finals.
On Friday, ESPN’s Shams Charania joined Pat McAfee’s show where he provided a crucial update regarding Curry’s injury.
“Steph Curry has really been limited to just doing treatment and he's gonna be reevaluated on Wednesday,” Charania said. “My understanding is that he could be back for game six at the earliest.”

Charania’s update is what most people expected as many did not expect Curry to return until at least Game 6 of the series, though that could change whenever he is reevaluated on Wednesday.
Of course, the Warriors announced after his MRI on Wednesday that Curry’s Grade 1 left hamstring strain would keep him out for at least one week, which is right before their Game 6 matchup on May 18.
Stephen Curry, who exited last night’s game against the Timberwolves with 8:19 remaining in the second quarter with a strained left hamstring, underwent an MRI this morning.

While Curry’s targeted return date appears to be Game 6, it all depends on how his recovery goes, as he could miss the remainder of the series, especially since this is the first hamstring injury of his career.
Either way, Golden State will need their core to step up around Butler as the series now shifts to The Bay for Game 3 on Saturday.
