Shaquille O’Neal Warns Boston Celtics Stars About Worrying Over ‘Useless Titles’
David Butler II-USA TODAY Sports

The Boston Celtics stand on the precipice of winning another ring for the franchise. For NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal, though, they should worry less about useless titles and focus more on getting the job done.

The Celtics dominated Game 1 of the NBA Finals, securing an impressive 107-89 victory against the Dallas Mavericks, led by Luka Doncic. Jaylen Brown emerged as the standout performer for Boston, making significant contributions with 22 points.

After the game, Dallas head coach Jason Kidd praised Brown, declaring him the best player on the Celtics team. This statement sparked a reaction from Jrue Holiday, while Jayson Tatum chose not to respond to Kidd’s comment.

Previously, there were rumors circulating about a potential issue between Brown and Tatum, as they vied for the alpha role in Boston. However, it seems that all parties involved have moved beyond that discussion, recognizing the importance of their collective goal to bring the 18th championship banner to the Celtics franchise.

Former NBA Champion Shaquille O’Neal Warned Boston Celtics Stars Not To Worry About Useless Titles

After Kidd made that comment, Los Angeles Lakers legend and current NBA analyst Shaquille O’Neal gave his take on the matter. In a video shared by NBA TV on X, Big Diesel told Boston’s stars not to worry about useless titles.

Over the course of his NBA career , O’Neal has won three rings with the Lakers and a single championship with Dwyane Wade’s Miami Heat. Although he was a force to be reckoned with on the floor, there were instances when he deferred to his teammates to help get the job done, particularly his time playing with Prime Wade.

It remains to be seen whether Jayson Tatum and the Celtics can win the big one or Luka Doncic’s Mavericks can extend the series. In any case, it’s going to be an interesting couple of days for both teams.
