Second-year 76ers guard Jared McCain is expected to make his season debut Tuesday in Chicago. Tim Bontemps of ESPN reported that McCain will be listed as probable.
McCain suffered a torn UCL in his right thumb during an offseason workout just before training camp, then had surgery. He shed the splint last week and practiced on Thursday, so this has been trending this way.
McCain was viewed as a Rookie of the Year contender last season, averaging 15.3 points, 2.6 assists and 2.4 rebounds on .460 shooting from the field and .383 from three in 23 games.
That push ended in December with a torn lateral meniscus and another surgery. So this is another comeback after another lost stretch.
The Sixers are 5-1 after starting 2-12 last year, and McCain adds another dynamic guard to a backcourt that already features Tyrese Maxey, VJ Edgecombe and Quentin Grimes.
Philadelphia will still be without Paul George and Dominick Barlow against the Bulls.
