Allen Iverson ‘definitely’ thinks 76ers can win 2018 NBA title
Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

Philadelphia 76ers legend Allen Iverson made it clear he is fully on the team’s bandwagon, saying on Tuesday that the Sixers can “definitely” win the NBA title this season.

Interestingly, Iverson used the exact same line to express his confidence in the squad that was uttered by current Sixers superstar Joel Embiid on Monday.

“I think our time is now,” Iverson told Stephen A. Smith during an appearance on ESPN’s “First Take.”

Smith then asked Iverson if that meant actually winning an NBA championship.

“Definitely. Why not? Why not us? I think we got the talent, we got the coaching staff and we definitely, definitely got the fan support.”

Iverson’s entire thoughts on the upstart Sixers follows.

The Sixers currently have a stranglehold on their Eastern Conference quarterfinal series with the Miami Heat courtesy of a 3-1 advantage heading into Tuesday’s showdown at Wells Fargo Center.

As noted, Embiid similarly believes like Iverson that the Sixers needn’t be simply content with making some noise in the postseason. Instead, Embiid argues, like A.I., that the pieces are already in place for Philadelphia to make a run to the NBA Finals and perhaps even win it.

“A lot of people say that we have a bright future, but I think our time is now,” Embiid said. “We have a pretty good chance. We have a special team, a lot of great guys. I don’t think we need anybody else. We’ve just got to work with what we have, and we have a special team. I feel like we have a pretty good chance to go far.”

It would seem that “The Answer” and “The Process” are of the same mind when it comes to the Sixers’ prospects of hoisting the Larry O’Brien Championship Trophy in a few months. It may prove difficult, but certainly not impossible.
