Another son of a former NBA player is reportedly on his way to carving his own path at his dad's alma mater.
On Tuesday, Nicholas Blake, son of 13-year NBA veteran Steve Blake, announced his decision to attend the University of Maryland where his father starred from 1999-2002 before being selected with the ninth pick in the second round back in 2003.
Per Inside the Black & Gold: "2025 Olympia HS guard Nick Blake, son of Maryland legend & NBA guard Steve Blake, has announced his commitment to Maryland. Blake averaged 10.6 PPG and shot 39% from the field, 38% from 3PT as a senior." Adding, "Blake also becomes the 15th addition, finalizing the 2025-26 roster."

Blake joins a deep Terrapins backcourt after becoming the fifth 2025 commit for the school in this year's cycle. With the others being Darius Adams, Aleks Alston, Guillermo Del Pino and Jaziah Harper.
This upcoming season marks the first for Buzz Williams in College Park after coming over from Texas A&M where he spent the last six years — with prior stints at Virginia Tech, Marquette and New Orleans.
Blake will attempt to leave his own legacy at MD behind lead guard and Indiana transfer Myles Rice. And if he can carve out anywhere near the career his dad did in the pros that would be quite the accomplishment.
Steve Blake's dozen-plus years in the NBA included stops with the Washington Wizards, Portland Trail Blazers, Milwaukee Bucks, Denver Nuggets, LA Clippers, Los Angeles Lakers, Golden State Warriors and Detroit Pistons.
He finished his professional basketball career with averages of 6.5 points, 4.0 assists and 2.1 rebounds on almost 40% shooting from three.
