Rookie guard Dylan Harper played a crucial role during the San Antonio Spurs’ recent win.
Even with Victor Wembanyama sidelined due to a calf injury, the San Antonio Spurs refuse to fall in the Western Conference standings.
A key reason behind it is the multiple stars filling in for Wemby’s absence on a nightly basis. This time around it was rookie guard Dylan Harper’s chance.
In a game where All-Star guard De’Aaron Fox contributed just 14 points, one may assume the Spurs lost the matchup.
However, Harper rose to the occasion and finished the night with 22 points, 3 rebounds, and 6 assists in just 26 minutes off the bench in the 135-132 win.
Harper also shot a phenomenal 10-16 from the floor, including a somewhat average 1-of-3 from the three-point line.
It was an epic response to some NBA experts wanting the Spurs to part ways with Harper in a potential trade for Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Even with the Spurs reportedly having an interest in trading for Antetokounmpo, most of the team’s fanbase is utterly against including Harper in a potential trade package for the 2x NBA MVP.
The positive feeling about Harper only got stronger after seeing his solid outing vs. the Pelicans.

“Y’all can keep Giannis I’m good with Dylan Harper,” a fan stated. While another added: “Dylan Harper is HIM. I would not trade him for Giannis.”
“Trading Dylan Harper for Giannis would be like trading rookie Shai for Paul George iykyk,” a third fan boldly claimed.
“And folks wanna trade Dylan Harper for Giannis man,” a fourth fan pointed out.
“15 years of Harper > 5 years of Giannis,” another fan noted.
While Harper may have the potential to become a top-five point guard in the NBA someday, let’s not forget that Antetokounmpo is arguably the top-five player in the league right now.
