Spurs’ Harrison Barnes misses first game since 2021

San Antonio Spurs forward Harrison Barnes saw a lengthy games-played streak come to an end Thursday night.

Barnes missed the Spurs’ 131-91 blowout of the Philadelphia 76ers after waking up from a pregame nap with soreness in his left ankle, according to coach Mitch Johnson.

The veteran forward had appeared in 364 consecutive games, with his last absence coming Dec. 4, 2021, when he was a member of the Sacramento Kings.

Barnes was a late addition to the injury report after reporting the discomfort to the team’s medical staff upon waking. He received treatment prior to the game but ultimately did not play.

The 32-year-old has been one of the NBA’s most durable players in recent seasons.

Since 2021, Barnes ranks second in total games played with 382, trailing only New York Knicks wing Mikal Bridges, who currently owns the league’s longest active consecutive-games streak at 616.
