Joan Beringer, the 18-year-old French center for Cedevita Olimpija, has emerged as one of the most intriguing prospects in the 2025 NBA Draft.
Standing at 6-foot-11 with an imposing 7-foot-4 wingspan, Beringer has shown elite physical tools, high motor and impressive defensive prowess — qualities that have NBA scouts buzzing. And he's the third youngest prospect in the draft.
The San Antonio Spurs currently hold the No. 2 and No. 14 overall picks in next week's draft. The latter pick was acquired via their trade of Dejounte Murray to the Atlanta Hawks in 2022.
Many draft pundits believe the Spurs will pick Rutgers guard Dylan Harper with the No. 2 pick. Their selection at No. 14 is more uncertain.
A recent post on X by Jeff Garcia of KENS5 out of San Antonio indicated that the Spurs may be eyeing Beringer with the No. 14 pick.

Beringer played for Strasbourg in the French U21 league last season but was not highly regarded among NBA scouts before moving to Slovenia this past summer, playing for KK Cedevita. In particular, he was slated to play for their junior team, but Beringer impressed the team so much during training that he was immediately promoted to the main team.
Beringer has provided Cedevita with productive play throughout its season. He is averaging 4.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in EuroCup and 4.9 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.5 blocks in the ABA. Before joining KK Cedevita, Beringer represented France in the 2023 FIBA U18 European Championship.
According to one scouting analysis, the best aspect of Beringer may be his athleticism. He possesses explosive leaping ability, getting off the floor quickly for dunks or blocks. He also has mobility that allows him to cover a ton of ground quickly, making him a massive threat in transition. Plus, Beringer's length makes him a highly effective shot blocker.
