Spurs Superstar Harrison Barnes Bought His Own Bank

As reported, the 34-year-old Spurs veteran recently bought a Community State Bank in Paton, Iowa. And the price he paid was not low by any standards. He reportedly invested $25 million of his own pocket directly into the bank.

That’s one way to invest money. Not the blings, sports cars, or private jets that have drained the money of other athletes. Harrison Barnes wants to control the flow and possibly invest in startups that could further help his community.

The Spurs forward was born in Ames, Iowa, in 1992. He went to Ames High School. It was where he became the top-rated high school basketball recruit in the country in 2010. 

His reported career earnings are approximately $224.1 million. For a possible lifetime investment of $25 million, that’s not too bad.

Barnes Entering His 15th Season In The League

Harrison Barnes entered the league in 2012, where he was selected 7th overall by the Golden State Warriors. He won a title with the team in 2015.

He played for the Dallas Mavericks from 2016 to 2019. However, his time in Dallas was remembered for one thing: being traded away while still actively playing in a game. 

From 2019 to 2024, he was with the Sacramento Kings. In the 2024 offseason, Barnes was traded to the San Antonio Spurs in a three-team trade. He has since become a valuable piece for the Spurs, especially in his role playing alongside the ever-growing Victor Wembanyama.
