  • Steph Curry scored 35 points, but the Golden State Warriors lost 139-119 to the Portland Trail Blazers.
  • Curry became the oldest point guard with consecutive 35-point NBA games.
  • Despite Curry’s efforts, the Warriors suffered their first loss of the season, now 2-1.

Steph Curry had another big night for the Golden State Warriors on Friday. The former back-to-back NBA MVP dropped a game-high 35 points on 12-of-22 shooting, to go along with six rebounds, three assists, a steal, two blocks and seven triples in just 27 minutes of action. It still wasn’t enough, though, as the Warriors lost to the Portland Trail Blazers, 139-119, with the blowout representing Golden State’s first loss of the season.

Curry did all he could for the Warriors in this one, but not even his historic performance was enough to carry his team to victory. Golden State fell to 2-1 after Friday’s defeat.

Friday’s road game against the Blazers was the second night of a back-to-back set for Curry and Co. They were coming off a hard-fought 137-131 home victory over Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets on Thursday. This was also the Warriors’ third game in four nights after they took down Luka Doncic and the Los Angeles Lakers on opening night, 119-109.

Despite the hectic start to the season, Curry has remained on point. In fact, the 37-year-old has been on quite a scoring tear to open the new campaign. He scored 23 against the Lakers before dropping 42 on the Nuggets on Thursday.

It was announced after Friday’s 35-point outing that Curry has set a new NBA record.

“Steph Curry is the oldest point guard in NBA history with consecutive 35-point games,” posted Polymarket Hoops on X.

On top of that, Curry now holds the record for the most games in NBA history with at least 35 points with under five free-throw attempts, per Polymarket Hoops. The former back-to-back MVP went 4-of-4 from the charity stripe against Portland.

Despite Curry’s heroic effort, the Warriors still suffered their first loss of the season. They will get a chance to make things right in their next game, which comes in the form of a home matchup against Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday. Tipoff from Chase Center will be at 10:00 p.m. ET.
