Stephen Curry and his wife Ayesha Curry remain one of the most well-known couples connected to the NBA, a partnership that has grown in visibility and influence over more than a decade. The two first met as teenagers in Charlotte before reconnecting years later, eventually marrying in 2011. Since then, they have built a family, expanded their individual careers, and established a shared public presence that extends far beyond basketball.
Stephen and Ayesha’s partnership off the court remains as powerful as their public-facing profiles. While Steph continues to flourish as an NBA superstar on the Golden State Warriors, Ayesha has built a wide-ranging career as an author, entrepreneur, and advocate.
Together, they support each other’s work and direct much of their time beyond family and business into community betterment in their hometown of Oakland, California. Through their philanthropy, they’ve invested deeply in local schools and youth, using their platform to give back where it counts most.
Their primary vehicle for that work is the foundation Eat.Learn.Play. – which focuses on nourishing children, strengthening literacy, and creating safe, enriching spaces for play. The initiative works to ensure kids have access to nutritious meals, strong reading resources, and safe, well-designed play and learning environments.
On Friday, the couple announced some exciting news via their foundation. Eat.Learn.Play's final big project of the year, a major schoolyard build at Emerson Elementary School, has been completed.
“Our final schoolyard build of the year is officially complete," the announcement began. "Emerson Elementary now has beautiful, kid-designed outdoor spaces for play and learning. And with this transformation, we’ve now impacted 24 Oakland schools!"
The caption added, "Rain showed up for part of the build week, but so did our volunteers. Their commitment kept the momentum going and made this one feel extra special. Two new play structures, fresh sport courts, a soccer pitch with new goals, nature and garden areas, colorful murals, a Little Town Library — it all adds up to more joy for every student at Emerson.”
Ayesha also reshared the news on her Instagram story to her 7.8 million followers.
Over the years, Eat.Learn.Play. has funded or completed dozens of meaningful projects in Oakland – from refurbishing gyms and cafeterias to building safe playgrounds, creating outdoor classrooms and libraries, supplying meals, and expanding youth sports.
With this latest build at Emerson, the Currys have closed out the year with a tangible legacy: 24 transformed schoolyards – environments where children can grow, learn, play and dream.
