The Golden State Warriors have been navigating a difficult stretch of the season as they continue to await the return of their franchise cornerstone, Stephen Curry. The two-time MVP has not played since Jan. 30 after suffering a knee injury that has kept him sidelined for an extended period.

Without its leading scorer and offensive engine, Golden State has struggled. The Warriors have lost 11 of the 16 games Curry has missed during this stretch. These losses have pushed Golden State down to ninth in the Western Conference standings and placed additional pressure on the remaining healthy players.

Entering Friday, the Warriors were hoping to bounce back and snap a three-game losing streak when they hosted the Minnesota Timberwolves at Chase Center. Instead, the evening turned into another frustrating result.

Minnesota, led by a dominant 42-point performance from Anthony Edwards , defeated Golden State 127-117, handing the Warriors their fourth consecutive loss. But the loss itself quickly became a secondary concern for Curry and head coach Steve Kerr.

The Warriors endured a brutal night on the injury front during the game. As ESPN’s Anthony Slater confirmed after the matchup, Golden State has now lost four more players to injuries: Draymond Green , Al Horford, Seth Curry and Quinten Post.

Green was a late scratch for Friday’s game due to back soreness, while veteran center Al Horford (right calf tightness) and guard Seth Curry (right adductor soreness) were forced out in the first half. Big man Quinten Post also suffered a left ankle sprain that prevented him from finishing the game.

The wave of injuries comes at a particularly concerning time for Golden State. On Wednesday, the Warriors announced that Curry will be re-evaluated after another 10-day recovery period, marking the third consecutive 10-day evaluation window since the injury occurred.

Adding to the challenge, Golden State’s upcoming schedule offers little relief. The Warriors are set to begin a six-game road trip starting Sunday against the New York Knicks. It’s a demanding stretch that also includes matchups with the Boston Celtics, Detroit Pistons, and Atlanta Hawks.

That timeline could significantly impact Golden State’s postseason hopes. There are just 16 games remaining in the regular season, and the Warriors sit 8.5 games behind the Timberwolves, who currently hold the final automatic playoff spot in the Western Conference.

If that gap grows during the upcoming road trip, Curry could return to a very different playoff outlook than the one the team initially envisioned. Rather than competing for a guaranteed postseason berth, Golden State may find itself fighting simply to secure a play-in tournament position.

In many ways, the injuries on Friday simply added to what has been a turbulent season for a Golden State team already without six-time All-Star Jimmy Butler (season-ending ACL injury).
