The Golden State Warriors are getting set to enter the 2025-26 NBA season with a wide range of expectations. After playing like one of the best teams in the league last season following their acquisition of Jimmy Butler, they fell short of their goal, being eliminated by the eventual champion, Oklahoma City Thunder in the Western Conference semifinals.

Now, as their All-NBA point guard, and leader, Stephen Curry, gets set to enter season No. 17, there is a decent amount of uncertainty surrounding their former top-10 pick, Jonathan Kuminga.

Kuminga's contract negotiations have taken center stage for a large portion of the offseason. Kuminga is currently a restricted free agent, who is reportedly seeking a long-term contract with the Warriors. While Kuminga is looking for a considerable raise, the Warriors don't appear to be on the same page with their 22-year-old forward.

Steph Curry Makes His Thoughts on Jonathan Kuminga Very Clear

With the Warriors holding a media day on Monday, Curry voiced his opinion on the situation for the first time, and the future Hall of Famer didn't hold back.

"I only listen to my teammate. I don't listen to agents speaking on behalf. From man to man, JK (Jonathan Kuminga) didn't want to have to be in the way of anything. JK can speak for himself, but when he's here, ready to work, like we expect him to be, locked in on doing what he needs to do to help us win," Curry said.

Kuminga's agent reportedly said, "If we get the contract we want, we'll be committed to winning."

Curry immediately and emphatically expressed he has zero interest in listening to agents speak on behalf of their players. Curry acknowledged that he and Kuminga spoke, and Kuminga can speak for himself (publicly) when he's ready.

According to FanDuel Sportsbook, the Warriors over-under for wins for the upcoming season is set at 46.5 wins. Their odds to win the NBA Finals are set at plus-3000.

As for Kuminga, he is coming off his fourth season in the NBA. He averaged 15.3 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.2 assists in 47 games played last season.

Kuminga, who is reportedly seeking a contract of three or more years with an annual value of $25 million or more per year. The alleged sticking point on the negotiations is Kuminga's desire to hold a player option and it appear the Warriors are unwilling to make that concession.

Kuminga is currently staring at a qualifying offer as a restricted free agent of $7.9 million for this year. The deadline for his decision is on Wednesday, Oct. 1 at 11:59 p.m. EDT.
