Golden State Warriors fans are still hurting from their team's season-ending loss at the hands of Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday.
The Warriors came crashing out of the NBA playoffs after suffering a 121-110 loss to Minnesota in Game 5, as the Wolves closed out their second-round series, 4-1.
Steph Curry was unable to suit up in what turned out to be his team's final game of the season due to a hamstring issue. This was his fourth straight game on the sidelines because of the injury, and Golden State ended up losing all four contests without their best player on the floor.
As it turns out, Curry was supposed to make his first major public appearance on Friday following the Warriors' playoff exit. On Thursday, during his exit interview, Curry revealed that he plans to support the Golden State Valkyries in its upcoming debut season in the WNBA by attending as many games as possible.
According to a report by NBA insider Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN, Curry was supposed to attend the Valkyries' season-opener against the Los Angeles Sparks on Friday night along with some of his Warriors teammates and head coach Steve Kerr.
Unfortunately, this will no longer be the case after the former back-to-back MVP decided otherwise.
"Several Warriors players and Steve Kerr are expected to attend the inaugural Valkyries game tonight at Chase Center. Steph Curry, unfortunately, had to cancel due to a last-minute personal matter," Youngmisuk reported on X.
No further details have been revealed with regard to Curry's "personal matter," but it is clearly important enough for him to miss the Valkyries' historic night at Chase Center.
The silver lining here is that Curry has already promised to attend games this season, and he should make an appearance at a Valkyries game sooner rather than later.
The Valkyries, which is also owned by the same ownership group that owns the Warriors, will play their next home game on Wednesday against the Washington Mystics. Whether or not Curry will be at that game remains to be seen.
