After securing a Game 7 win over the Houston Rockets in the first round of the 2025 NBA Playoffs, Draymond Green and the Golden State Warriors continued their strong play in the second round. But it may have come at a cost.
On Tuesday night, the Warriors defeated Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves 99-88 in Game 1 of the Western Conference semifinals. Golden State was able to win on the road despite missing Steph Curry for the final 32 minutes of play.
With 8:20 remaining in the second quarter, Curry suffered a hamstring injury and was forced back into the locker room, never to return.
Following the win, Warriors coach Steve Kerr said his star point guard is "day-to-day" and will "get an MRI" on Wednesday.
"Yeah, talked to him at halftime," Kerr said. "He's obviously crushed, but the guys picked him up and played a great game. Obviously, we're all concerned about Steph, but it's part of the game."
Green also spoke to the media on Curry's injury, revealing the former Davidson star's message to him immediately after injuring his hamstring.
"I'll be back," Curry told Green before heading to the locker room.
Green also had high praise for his team's play once Curry left, claiming, "Robin turned into Batman and Alfred turned into Robin."
Draymond Green asked if Steph Curry was good when he walked off floor. Curry told him, “I’ll be back.” Green said the Warriors played several minutes without knowing Curry was out with a hamstring injury. He says, “Robin turned into Batman and Alfred turned into Robin.”

In 13 minutes prior to his injury, Curry tallied 13 points, including three 3-pointers made. Green had a solid all-around game, notching 18 points, eight rebounds, six assists and two steals.
But, just like in Game 7 against the Houston Rockets, Buddy Hield led the way for Golden State in scoring, finishing with 24 points on 7-of-19 shooting, eight rebounds and three assists.
The Warriors now take a 1-0 series lead over the Timberwolves and have stolen home-court advantage away as well. Game 2 will be on Thursday at 8:30 p.m. ET back at Target Center in Minneapolis.
