Golden State Warriors superstar Steph Curry commanded attention Wednesday night, even without stepping on the floor.
The two-time MVP sat out his 26th consecutive game with a right knee injury. He watched his team fall to the visiting San Antonio Spurs, 127-113, at Chase Center.
Without their floor general, the Warriors floundered, dropping to 36-40 to remain 10th in the Western Conference. The Dubs have lost six of their last 10 games.
In 39 games played this season, Curry averaged 27.2 points, 4.8 assists and 3.5 rebounds per game. Yet Curry found a way to steal the spotlight. The jersey he wore turned heads and sparked conversation online.
Curry showed support for Golden State's WNBA franchise from the sideline. The 12-time All-Star rocked a custom Golden State Valkyries purple uniform with his No. 30 on the back. The Valkyries took notice. The team posted images of Curry's look on their official Instagram account.
"@stephencurry30 steppin' out in Valkyries Violet this evening ⚔️" the caption read.
Warriors and Valkyries fans flooded the comment section. Some celebrated the look.
"YES. MNBA should have WNBA night! Get @warriors in @valkyries gear," a comment on Instagram read.
"steph got some nice threads " another added.
"Get rid of that “AT&T” & that’s a sick ahh jersey fr," a fan pointed out.
"I need this one ngl," a reaction read.
Others made clear they missed him on the court.
"need Curry out there," one wrote.
"Come back king," replied another.
Curry's absence felt significant on the floor. The Warriors struggled on both ends against the Spurs. Nate Williams provided a bright spot with 18 points.
But Steve Kerr's squad had no answer for Victor Wembanyama, who had his way with 41 points, 18 rebounds and three blocks.
Out since Jan. 30, Curry has participated in light practice and scrimmaging. Sunday's game against the Houston Rockets is reportedly his target return date.
