It’s been two years since the Golden State Warriors last lifted the NBA title.
The team was still anchored by their familiar trio of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green.
That year, Andrew Wiggins was named an All-Star, while Jordan Poole looked like a rising star for the team.
Even with all that talent, Curry recently said that team wasn’t quite as good as it might have seemed from the outside.
Curry also thinks the Warriors’ roster heading into next season could be even better equipped to handle whatever comes their way in the league.
Curry’s confidence isn’t just about the improved depth from players like Al Horford, De’Anthony Melton, and Jonathan Kuminga. It’s rooted in a fundamental shift in how the team is built.
What sets this season apart for him is Jimmy Butler’s arrival, who is set to play his first full campaign with the team. Curry believes that Butler adds an element that the 2022 roster was missing.
“We have a legitimate shot. We can square up against anybody in the West. Obviously, everything has to go right health wise,” Curry said via ClutchPoints.
“Anybody who wins a championship, that kinda is a prerequisite, and we just wanna have an opportunity to show that in the playoffs.”
He then went on to say: “The idea of in ’22, like, if you told me in training camp that this was a team that was gonna win it all, like I would have believed it,” he added.
The Warriors are heading into next season with some of their best positional depth in years.
The addition of Al Horford finally gives them a reliable stretch big, something they’ve needed for quite some time.
De’Anthony Melton brings value on both ends of the court, and the battle between Moses Moody and Brandin Podziemski for the starting shooting guard spot should be interesting to watch.

Seth Curry’s shooting provides even more spacing, giving them plenty of lineup flexibility on offence.
Still, Curry admits that staying healthy will be key if they’re going to have a real shot at contending. The core is only getting older.
