Stephen Curry had no business during the Los Angeles Lakers vs. Golden State Warriors clash. But despite going through an injury management phase, the superstar point guard couldn’t hold himself out of the game.
The Bay Area star missed the matchup, but was present, this time through a subtle style choice. Before tip-off, Curry arrived wearing a rare pair of Nike LeBron 10 iD sneakers, immediately catching attention around Chase Center.
The shoes, originally released in 2013, were customized in Golden State’s signature blue and gold, making the moment feel both nostalgic and intentional.
However, the gesture didn’t go unnoticed. James, who led the Lakers to a 119-103 win, was visibly appreciative after spotting the footwear. The LA superstar went ahead to dap Curry but couldn’t resist complimenting him.
“Out the vault!” he said.

Additionally, speaking postgame, the four-time champion called it “super special,” noting that seeing one of the game’s all-time greats wear his signature line carried significance. He even hinted that the colorway may have originally been designed with Curry in mind during his early Nike days.
The two icons, who have defined an era with multiple Finals clashes and eight combined championships since 2012, have yet to face each other this season due to injuries. This off-court interaction became the closest thing to a crossover moment.
That said, Chef Curry’s sneaker choice also comes at an interesting transition phase. After ending a long-term deal with Under Armour, the two-time MVP is now a sneaker free agent, experimenting with different brands and silhouettes.
For the past some time, Stephen Curry’s sneaker free agency has turned into a meaningful charitable effort.
Sotheby’s will auction more than 70 pairs of shoes that Stephen Curry wore this season from April 13 to April 28, with all proceeds benefiting the Eat. Learn. Play. Foundation. The initiative, founded by Curry and his wife Ayesha, focuses on providing children in Oakland with access to nutrition, education, and active lifestyles.
Though his sneaker free agency status has only given him the freedom to turn each appearance into a tribute. From honoring legends like Kobe Bryant, Allen Iverson, and Shaquille O’Neal to spotlighting current stars such as Anthony Edwards and Sabrina Ionescu.
Curry emphasized that the purpose behind the collection goes beyond footwear. For him, each pair represents a moment, a story, and now, a chance to give back.
