Stephen Curry broke one of Michael Jordan's records again

The Golden State Warriors have been one of the most inconsistent teams in the NBA this season.

Not even Stephen Curry's heroics have been enough to keep them afloat, and his injury woes have also been a major concern. That's why it was only fitting to see the four-time NBA champion make league history and break one of Michael Jordan's records in a loss. Curry dropped 48 points against the Portland Trail Blazers on Sunday to become the all-time leader in 40+ point games after turning 30 (45).

Stephen Curry's incredible accolade not enough to lift Warriors

"Cool recognition and longevity. Obviously, I’d like to celebrate it with a win, but any time you’re doing anything with certain names in this league, historically, that definitely means something," Curry said after the game, per Sam Gordon of the San Francisco Chronicle.

Curry is averaging 29.6 points, 3.7 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 1.3 steals and 5.2 three-pointers per game on 48/41/90 shooting splits. He's perhaps the most complete and efficient scorer in the league right now, and the fact that he's doing that while averaging just 5.4 free throws per game is even more impressive.

Even so, he might not be interested in any more individual glory at this point in his career. As a competitor, and after being on top of the league for so long, it's all about another championship. His team doesn't look like a title contender as currently constructed, and it'll be interesting to see what it does to help him go out with a bang while he's still playing like he's in his prime.
