Brandin Podziemski finally found his shooting touch for the Golden State Warriors.

In the recent game against the Memphis Grizzlies, he scored a season-high 23 points and knocked down five three-pointers with an excellent 71.4% success rate.

This marked Brandin Podziemski’s first 20-plus point game of the season.

He had started the first three games very slowly, producing only seven, 11, and eight points, which was below the expectations placed on the player hoped to become the Warriors’ consistent third scoring option.

Stephen Curry says simple offensive game plan allows Brandin Podziemski to have a good scoring night

Following the game against the Grizzlies, Stephen Curry explained that the Warriors‘ fundamental offensive strategy helped Podziemski finally find his game.

“I think for him, it’s just keeping this game simple there,” Curry started.

“Certain teams, I guess defenses that have given us as a team problems, all those like switch-five type teams where there aren’t as clear driving lanes, there are moments like tonight where you have to just keep the game simple,” he added.

Curry also noted that Podziemski was confident enough to make decisions, trust his teammates, and hit important shots.

“If you have a shot, cool, shoot it. Have confidence. If not, get off of it quick. It’s going to come back to you. There were plenty of possessions where, either somebody else started with the ball, he got it, got off it, it came back to him.”

“At the end of the possession, you’re able to finish. So, those are the ways that you make the game easy for yourself and trusting that the ball has energy and it’ll find the right guy,” Curry said.

Brandin Podziemski needs to be consistent in this Warriors‘ system

Ultimately, that offensive strategy also helped other players, like Moses Moody, to perform well with 20 points in the game against the Grizzlies.

In general, the Warriors were on fire with three-point shooting, making 19 threes in total, with five players making at least two.

For Podziemski himself, he stated that he wants to fix his shooting ability this season as he learns Curry’s mindset of being confident in taking shots.

He now needs to maintain that consistency because, as Curry noted, the Warriors’ motion offense allows any player to be the one who finishes the play.
