Stephen Curry reaffirms Warriors commitment with ‘lifer’ declaration

As the Golden State Warriors become more removed from the championship years with each passing season, one of the biggest questions has become what the future holds for franchise player Stephen Curry. Is there a scenario that exists in which the team’s star for the past decade doesn’t end his career in Warriors uniform?

Well Warriors fans should rest easy this week as Stephen Curry shot down any notion that he’s looking forward to going through the free agency process in the future, and that he sees himself remaining with the franchise for the rest of his career.

“Not at all. I’ve always stated that I want to be a lifer with Golden State and what we’ve built there,” Curry said during a recent appearance on CNBC. “The fact that I get to run it back this year with Draymond and Coach Kerr, all this contract stuff, this NBA thing from year to year is so crazy, things change really fast. But I do know my interest and mission to stay in Golden State and be competitive is there, and the contract stuff will take care of itself.”

Curry is entering the final year of his contract and is currently on pace to hit unrestricted free agency at the end of the season. However, there reportedly exists interest on both sides to get a contract extension done and thus avoid hitting free agency.
