Stephen Curry Says He Could Run For President One Day

Stephen Curry may go down as the greatest point guard to play in the NBA, but he has much grander ambitions. His philanthropic sense has led him to discuss the possibility of entering politics to help create real change using his platform, with Curry not ruling out a future bid to be President of the United State of America.

"Maybe. I have an interest in leveraging every part of my influence for good in the way that I can. If that's the way to do it. I'm not saying the Presidency, it's a maybe. But if politics is a way that you can create meaningful change or if there's any way outside of politics we can do. I'm not ruling it out. Not that soon (running in 2028)."

Curry is one of the most beloved figures in the sport of basketball, but a political career would serve to divide his fanbase into more groups that either agree with his political leanings or don't. Curry hasn't used his platform to have a strong political voice like LeBron James. All we know is that Curry is a devout Christian and his personal beliefs may reflect in the policies he implements or the stances he takes.

Many fans have already begun criticizing Curry for this thought, with some dismissing his ability to be in politics because he's an athlete. That's a ridiculous notion, as Curry definitely could provide a lot of good things to political discourse. But this is also a man that tried shutting down an affordable housing project because it was too close to his family home, so it's fair to say Curry won't find unquestioned support from his fans if he enters politics.

The NBA is no stranger to politics, with many team owners being active contributors to major political campaigns. Vice President of the Lakers Jerry Buss is already a part of the 2024 US Presidential Election race as an independent candidate, so if Curry wants to try his hand at the same, there's nobody to stop him.
