Giannis Antetokounmpo has been sharing hints about his future, sparking speculation around the Milwaukee Bucks. He’s discussed his wife moving to Athens, expressed a wish to finish his career in Greece, and emphasized his desire to play for a team with a strong winning culture.
All of this has fueled speculation in the NBA, with the New York Knicks frequently mentioned as a potential landing spot for Giannis . The Knicks, who reached the Eastern Conference Finals last season for the first time in 25 years, have a history of making significant changes even when their team is performing well, highlighted by the recent firing of head coach Tom Thibodeau.
Although most believe Giannis Antetokounmpo is unlikely to depart from the Milwaukee Bucks this season, the trade remains plausible when viewed from multiple angles. That said, Knicks legend Stephon Marbury argues that such a move would not be a smart decision.
“I think we’re set. I think we have enough to win the championship. Our style of play fits for the guys that are playing our style to play… He’s not a great 3-point shooter… And we… shoot threes, a lot of threes,” Marbury remarked in his interview with Scoop B Robinson.

It’s hard to say that Giannis wouldn’t thrive with the Knicks or any other team, as the two-time MVP is playing the best basketball of his career. He’s coming off back-to-back seasons averaging over 30 points and 10 rebounds per game while shooting more than 60 percent from the field, making him the first player in NBA history to reach those milestones.
This summer, he helped Greece capture bronze at EuroBasket, the nation’s first medal in 16 years, and earned a spot on the tournament’s All-Star Five. He carried that momentum into the NBA season, becoming the first player in league history to start a season with over 100 points, 40 rebounds, and 15 assists across the first three games.

Marbury’s criticism of Giannis’ three-point shooting falls flat this season. Antetokounmpo is knocking down 66.7 percent of his shots from deep while putting up 36.0 points, 16.0 rebounds, 7.0 assists, and 1.0 block per game on 68.3 percent shooting from the field, all while posting an astonishing 47.0 PER.
Naturally, maintaining those numbers for an entire season would be difficult. Still, it’s evident that the two-time NBA MVP would significantly elevate any team, especially the Knicks under Mike Brown, who emphasizes a fast-paced, transition-oriented style. Last season, the Greek Freak finished second in the league in transition points.
