Steve Kerr believes one of the Warriors’ most important stars is starting to become a problem for the team.
The Golden State Warriors have been strong in the early days of the 2025-26 NBA season, getting off to an impressive 2-1 start.
The Warriors proved they are title contenders with their win over the Denver Nuggets, showing a level of toughness and perseverance that is necessary to win it all.
But their loss to the Portland Trail Blazers reminded everyone that the Warriors aren’t invincible. Steve Kerr’s decision to rotate the Warriors’ lineup again may have cost them.
According to the man himself, one of his most important players isn’t in the best run of form right now, and he hopes that changes in the days to come.
Steve Kerr spoke to reporters ahead of the Golden State Warriors’ game against the Memphis Grizzlies, and the subject of Brandin Podziemski came up.
Kerr admitted that Podziemski wasn’t playing up to his usual brilliant standard and thinks the star is trying to do too much in the time he has. However, he believes Podziemski will return to form soon.
“He’s not at his best right now. He’s pressing a little bit. Brandin always wants to be great. Sometimes he just needs to relax and be good, and that’s when his play becomes great.
“I think he’s just, similar to last season, pressing on. He’s a hell of a player, and he makes us better. He’ll get it turned around.”

The Golden State Warriors do have a lot of faith in Brandin Podziemski, as, despite his lack of form, he has earned the starting nod for the Memphis Grizzlies game.
This could be in part to neutralize the slightly smaller lineup that the Memphis Grizzlies play with, as they grapple with several injuries.

Podziemski recently revealed his ambition was to be the successor to Stephen Curry, a comment that many considered to be ‘delusional’ – but it speaks to what drives Podziemski to play as hard as he does.
If Podziemski is able to recover his form in the weeks to come, he could make himself indispensable to Steve Kerr for the remainder of the season.
