Steve Kerr became the head coach of the Golden State Warriors in 2014. Ever since, he has used a “small-ball” lineup, which has proven effective. This style of play ultimately rubbed off on the rest of the league.
In a recent interview, Kerr spoke about how he will likely move away from “small-ball.”
“I think we kind of know the guys who are going to start for sure. You [the media] know who those guys are. Then we have to build around that. Do we want to start big? Have a traditional 5. Or do we want to start like we did last year?
“Draymond at the 5, Moses and BP [Brandin Podziemski] in the backcourt. That was a really successful lineup. We could start that way, if we wanted, and still not have to play Draymond heavy minutes at the 5.
“So it all depends on what the rotation pattern could look like. But that’s your key spot, whether we start Draymond at the 4 or the 5, and then there’s the domino effect from there.”

Kerr is the master at making adjustments to his lineup. He very well could start big and move to small later on in the season.
Whatever it takes to get the Warriors back on top, Kerr will do.
