The Golden State Warriors’ current season has fallen short of their expectations, but they have at least secured a play-in spot. They can now look ahead to the play-in tournament with renewed optimism, especially with Stephen Curry set to return.
There are seven games remaining, and Curry is reportedly nearing a return to NBA action. According to head coach Steve Kerr, the team is already ramping up his routine.
“He went through full practice today, but it was very light. We didn’t do anything live. He’s gonna scrimmage right now, 5-on-5, and it’s a good step for him,” Kerr said on Tuesday in a report made by ESPN’s Anthony Slater.
Steph Curry went through practice today. Full contact. He’s about to scrimmage now. Five-on-five. He’s still out tomorrow vs Spurs and doubtful for Thursday vs Cavaliers but this is a large step toward his return.

Curry last played on March 30. The Warriors have fallen below .500 as they have been hit by an injury plague. First, Jimmy Butler went down in January, followed by Moses Moody, who suffered a leg injury a week ago.
Kristaps Porzingis, Al Horford, and Draymond Green have also been in and out of the lineup.
Kerr previously said that Curry needs to play some regular-season games before their do-or-die situation.
“He’d need to play some games. We need to give him a runway if this is going to work. And we are running out of games,” Kerr said last week.
They have seven games remaining, including matchups against top-tier teams like the San Antonio Spurs, Cleveland Cavaliers, Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Lakers, and potential play-in opponent Los Angeles Clippers.
Warriors insider Tim Kawakami said last week that the team is targeting Curry’s return for next week. He could suit up for the game against the Rockets.
