Steve Kerr is having some fun at the commander-in-chief’s expense.

The Golden State Warriors head coach Kerr spoke wth reporters on Wednesday after a team practice. At one point during the press conference, Kerr reacted to the United States midterm election results from Tuesday night.

“I’m disappointed because I was looking forward to that $5,000 check that we were all going to get,” Kerr joked. “I was so excited about it and sure about it that I spent it already. So now I’m gonna have to figure something out.”

That was obviously a thinly-veiled swipe at President Donald Trump. Prior to the midterms, Trump had publicly promised to give out $5,000 to every American adult if the Republicans maintained control of both the House of Representatives and the Senate.

Instead though, the Democrats earned sweeping victories in Tuesday night’s midterms. They took back control of both the House and the Senate in a major blow to President Trump’s Republican party.

Kerr, the four-time champion coach, has been one of Trump’s most vocal critics in the sports world over the years. President Trump has also done his part to return fire at Kerr in a number of public remarks.
