Steve Kerr has given an update on Stephen Curry’s injury, and it doesn’t sound like the Golden State Warriors can count on him returning in the near future.
The Warriors are coming off a defeat against the Oklahoma City Thunder but still found reasons to be encouraged by their performance.
Golden State climbed back from a 22-point deficit, even holding the lead multiple times during the fourth quarter.
What stood out was how they managed it all without their top two players on the floor. Jimmy Butler left early with an injury, and Stephen Curry sat out again due to the issue he picked up last wee.
After the Golden State Warriors’ defeat to the Oklahoma City Thunder, Steve Kerr was asked about Stephen Curry’s possible return during their road trip.
Kerr explained that Curry would remain in San Francisco to continue his rehab, with a potential comeback set for next Friday against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
“He will not make the trip. He’s gonna stay home. It was a long shot for him to play in the back-to-back. He won’t play again till Friday,” Kerr told reporters.
“It just makes perfect sense for him to stay home, get the rehab done here, and hopefully be ready for Minnesota next Friday.”
Even with Stephen Curry unavailable, fans might still see a member of the Curry family on court during their next game.
Although Stephen Curry was unavailable, the Warriors did have his brother Seth, who recently joined the team and made his debut against the Thunder.
Steve Kerr spoke after the game and praised Seth for being a consummate professional, adding that he made an immediate impact because he stayed ready.
“He comes from the greatest shooting family in the history of basketball. He’s a pro. The guy has been around for a long time and played a lot of games for a lot of teams.”
“He kept himself ready. He just knows how to play, right place at the right time, doesn’t turn it over, is a good passer, and fights defensively. It’s great to have him.”
He gave them exactly that tonight as well as he managed 14 points in just 18 minutes on efficient shooting splits too.
