Where superstar forward Kevin Durant will play next remains an open question, though an answer is expected within the next 24 hours or so.
According to a report from John Gambadoro of 98.7 FM Phoenix on Sunday, June 22, the Phoenix Suns could move the future Hall of Fame player prior to tipoff of Game 7 of the NBA Finals between the Oklahoma City Thunder and Indiana Pacers on Sunday night.
At latest, Gambadoro said, the Suns will close its Durant business by Monday.
"A Kevin Durant deal is very close," Gambadoro posted to his X account. "Phoenix continues to work with multiple teams to get the deal they want, and I expect it will happen today or tomorrow."

The reported timeline makes sense, as several NBA insiders have reported the Suns prefer to have the deal done ahead of the draft, which is scheduled for Wednesday. The reason is that Phoenix hopes to acquire at least one 2025 first-round pick in the trade to improve the roster immediately.
Assuming Gambadoro's reporting is accurate, the relevant questions now become where is Durant headed and for what price?
Durant has named the San Antonio Spurs, Miami Heat and Houston Rockets as his top three desired landing spots. The Minnesota Timberwolves, who can arguably make the most compelling offer to the Suns, have also been in the mix. However, it is unclear whether Durant is willing to sign an extension in Minnesota, which brings that franchise's viability into serious question, as he enters the last year of his current contract in 2025-26.
The New York Knicks and Boston Celtics have also been mentioned as fringe trade partners in conversations around Durant, though it is unclear if either franchise is a viable destination at this stage of the process.
