NBA free agency officially begins on Monday night as teams look to upgrade their roster and chase a championship next season.

Of course, many of the top names entering free agency have already signed deals to remain with their current teams like Naz Reid, James Harden and Bobby Portis.

Despite this, there are many other players who will enter free agency that could become a key piece to a championship contender next season.

Among those is Phoenix Suns guard Tyus Jones who will enter free agency as one of the top point guards on the market.

While Jones could elect to re-sign with the Suns, there have been many teams linked to the 29-year-old guard heading into free agency.

According to Forbes’ Evan Sidery, the New York Knicks, Los Angeles Clippers, Orlando Magic, Denver Nuggets and Minnesota Timberwolves are expected to inquire about Jones once free agency begins.

Of course, it is likely that Jones will be signed to a veteran’s minimum contract this summer but he could end up being a key piece for any of the five teams Sidery mentioned, as well as any others that end up showing interest in him.

Last season, Jones averaged 10.2 points, 2.4 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 0.9 steals per game while shooting 44.8% from the field and 41.4% from three-point range in 81 games, 58 of which he started in.

For Jones, he would provide a title contender with a solid and cheap point guard option off the bench who could also start games if need be.

Because of this, the 29-year-old guard is expected to have a strong market during free agency as many contenders are looking to upgrade their bench and chase a championship next season.
