While everyone was focused on Game 7 of the NBA Finals on Sunday, Kevin Durant once again stole the headlines as the Phoenix Suns traded him to the Houston Rockets.

According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Suns are sending Durant to the Rockets in exchange for Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, the No. 10 pick in the upcoming 2025 draft and five second-round picks.

This is a true blockbuster deal on the final day of the NBA season as Durant got his wish with the Rockets being one of his preferred destinations.

While Houston now adds Durant to their young core, who are coming off finishing second in the Western Conference, Phoenix now officially begins their rebuild around Devin Booker.

With their addition of Green in this trade, there have been rumors about them possibly finding a third team or moving on from him later this offseason due to his lack of fit next to Booker and Bradley Beal, but that may not be the case.

According to Suns insider John Gambadoro, the Suns do not plan on trading Green and he is expected to play alongside Booker in the backcourt.

This is a massive report as it appears the Suns are going to hold onto Green and see how his fit works alongside Booker.

Of course, Green is only 23 years old and he is coming off one of the best seasons of his career, though he did struggle in the playoffs.

Despite this, he and Booker are very similar players and if the Suns also are unable to find a new home for Beal, it could become a massive problem for the franchise with three players who all have similar skillsets.

Despite this, Phoenix appears to be heading towards an experiment with Green and Booker in the backcourt but if it fails, expect them to make another move next season.
