Suns Have Major Problem After Kevin Durant Trade

The saga between the Phoenix Suns and their star forward Kevin Durant came to an end on Sunday as they sent the future Hall of Fame forward to the Houston Rockets.

According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Rockets are sending Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, the No. 10 pick in the upcoming 2025 NBA Draft and five second-round picks to the Suns in exchange for Durant.

This is a massive move by both teams as Durant now joins a Rockets team coming off finishing second in the Western Conference during the regular season while the Suns now kick off their rebuild.

Of course, the Suns were able to add a young star in Green along with a veteran forward in Brooks but the most intriguing part of the trade for Phoenix was likely the draft capital, especially acquiring their own pick in the upcoming 2025 draft back.

While this trade will help the Suns start off their rebuild on the right foot, they do have one major problem after it.

That problem is the fact that they now have three starting caliber shooting guards on their roster in Green, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal.

Of course, the Suns are looking to rebuild their roster around Booker but acquiring a similar player to him in Green could be a major issue next season.

Add Beal to the mix as well and the problem could be even larger if they are unable to find a new home for the veteran forward this summer, which is likely due to his massive contract and no-trade clause.

Despite these issues, the Suns could elect to move on from Green at some point later in the offseason or they could also look for a third team to get involved in the Durant trade since the deal cannot be finalized until July 6, according to ESPN’s Bobby Marks.

Either way, the Suns now have three similar shooting guards on their roster, so expect them to make even more moves this offseason as they continue to rebuild.
