The Phoenix Suns are in the market for a starting point guard this offseason. One of the top guards available in this year’s free agency class is 12-time All-Star Chris Paul. Despite being 40 year old, Paul is still a winning player and appeared in all 82 games last year, averaging 8.8 points and 7.4 assists. Paul enters free agency looking for contender, and according to NBA Insider Chris Haynes, he wants to reunion with either the Suns or the Los Angeles Clippers.

Paul played for the Clippers for six seasons and was a five-time All-Star. In Los Angeles, he averaged 18.8 points and 9.8 assists but never made it to the Western Conference Finals. Paul could try again to deliver a deep playoff for Clippers fans by teaming up with former teammate James Harden in the backcourt.
However, there is another All-Star guard Chris Paul could reunite with in Devin Booker. The duo played three seasons together but made it to the NBA Finals the first year. The 11-time All-NBA player had the most team success with Phoenix, falling only two games short of a NBA championship. Paul was fifth in MVP voting in 2021, his highest mark since 2013 and averaged 15.1 points and 9.5 assists in 194 games.
After being eliminated by the eventual NBA champion Denver Nuggets, then General manager James Jones and his staff believed Paul was on the declined and traded him to Washington for Bradley Beal in 2023. Paul has bounced from the Golden State Warriors to the San Antonio Spurs the past two years but is now ready to rejoin one of his former teams in this free agency.
The Suns are in desperate need of a playmaking guard like Paul, as many of the guards on the roster don’t posses that skill. The future Hall of Famer have averaged over 6.5 assists his entire career and over 7.5 for all but three of his 20 seasons. Paul is a winner and can pair him back with Booker, which the duo have a great relationship dating back to their first stint together.
