Life comes at you fast in the NBA, and that’s exactly what the Phoenix Suns realized last season. They went from an NBA Finals trip in 2021 to being another run-of-the-mill team like they had previously been.
An ownership change brought in an aggressive regime to Phoenix that acquired superstar forward Kevin Durant before the 2023 trade deadline and made a questionable swing for shooting guard Bradley Beal that offseason.
The trades did not pay off in the slightest and the Suns never even won a playoff series with the trio. They finally saw the error of their ways this offseason and will be moving forward without Durant or Beal.
The latter now plays for the Los Angeles Clippers and Durant was shipped off to the Houston Rockets in exchange for a first-round pick, former No. 3 draft choice Jalen Green and defensive forward Dillon Brooks.
Green has struggled to find his footing in the league so far, so Phoenix hopes he learn under the tutelage of franchise star Devin Booker.
Unfortunately, that journey won’t begin tonight as Green has been ruled out of the Suns’ season opener against the Sacramento Kings with a hamstring strain.
ICYMI: Suns-Kings injury report.

Suns: Jalen Green (right hamstring strain) OUT and Grayson Allen (left hip soreness) PROBABLE.
Kings: Domantas Sabonis (right hamstring strain), Keegan Murray (left thumb UCL) and Isaac Jones (illness) OUT. #Suns
Booker will be flying solo on Wednesday as Phoenix embarks on their first season in six years where they don’t have any expectations.
The Suns could either flourish while there aren’t many eyes on them, or they could be relegated to the bottom feeders that they were before they acquired legendary point guard Chris Paul.
They will try to turn around the misfortunes they’ve endured over the last few seasons, but they will have to do it without Green.
