Suns Reportedly Unwilling to Include Young Guard in Trade Talks for Warriors' Forward

It has been a busy offseason thus far for the Phoenix Suns as they have elected to blow up their roster as they try to turn their franchise around.

Phoenix has already dismantled their big three of Devin Booker, Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal as they traded Durant to the Houston Rockets and bought out Beal’s contract which allowed him to sign with the Los Angeles Clippers.

Now Booker remains as their main piece to build around after they signed him to a massive two-year contract extension.

The Suns have also been active in adding more talent around Booker as they landed Jalen Green and Dillon Brooks in the Durant trade, acquired Mark Williams from the Charlotte Hornets and selected Khaman Maluach, Rasheer Fleming and Koby Brea in the 2025 draft.

While the Suns have been busy adding more talent to their roster, they have recently been linked to a young forward from the Golden State Warriors.

That player is restricted free agent Jonathan Kuminga who the Suns would only be able to acquire via a sign-and-trade.

While the Suns have shown interest in Kuminga, the Warriors have turned down their trade offers thus far due to Phoenix not including one of their key young players.

According to Suns insider John Gambadoro, the Suns have never discussed including young guard Ryan Dunn with the Warriors and they are not looking to trade him this offseason.

This is a massive report by Gambadoro as there have been other reports suggesting that the Warriors are looking to land Dunn in a potential trade with the Suns involving Kuminga.

For Dunn, he proved in his rookie season last year that he is going to be a key piece for the Suns for years to come.

Last season, the 22-year-old guard averaged 6.9 points, 3.6 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game while shooting 43.0% from the field and 31.1% from three.

Dunn can also play the forward position and has a high motor who makes a ton of plays that do not show up in the box score.

Because of this, the Suns are unwilling to include him in any deal involving Kuminga but if they want to land the Warriors’ forward this offseason, they may have to move on from Dunn.
