PHOENIX — The Phoenix Suns are hot off a statement win against the Sacramento Kings to open up the 2025-26 season, and they now begin a three-game road trip against the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday.
Unlike last season, the Suns have been afforded a good bill of health to open the year, minus star guard Jalen Green, who remains out for Phoenix’s forthcoming road trip with a right hamstring strain.
Phoenix coach Jordan Ott expanded on Green’s status after Thursday’s practice.
“He’s obviously not going to play [this weekend],” Ott said. “That’s pretty easy to see. He’s still working through it. I would say by the end of the road trip, there will be more [updates], but at this point, definitely nothing.”
Despite their comeback win against Sacramento to open the season, it was evident exactly where the Suns missed the dynamic scoring guard.
In the first quarter especially, Phoenix was struggling to generate offensive production outside for Devin Booker, and it led to players like Dillon Brooks attempting 11 field goals in the opening frame, finishing with 24 FGA overall.
That’s where Green’s fit next to Booker shines. As opposing defenses key in on the 11-year veteran, Green is an adequate second scoring option when he’s on or off the floor with Booker.
Phoenix is going to have to get by without Green for at least the next three games, as the Suns don’t come back into town until Wednesday, Oct. 29, to take on the Memphis Grizzlies and begin a three-game home stand.
