The Lakers' revamped roster has one obvious outcome

The Los Angeles Lakers came into this offseason with a lot of cap space and for the first time, they were able to build a team around Luka Doncic.

This was because LeBron James told LA management earlier in the offseason that he would not be returning and the Lakers also had a number of expiring contracts come off their books. 

As good as the fit on paper seemed between Doncic, James, and Austin Reaves, the actual results on the court were less than stellar. LA could never really figure out the dynamic between those three, but the Doncic-Reaves pairing had tremendous synergy.

The Lakers built around that pairing this summer, as they were armed with cap space, and trade assets, which all points to one expected outcome.

The LA Lakers will have one of the NBA’s most potent offenses next season

When you have Doncic as the lead conductor for your offense, odds are that your team will be near the top of the league in terms of offensive efficiency. There are not many in the sport with the scoring, playmaking, and overall gravity of Doncic.

Even Reaves, who is coming off the best offensive season of his career, showed that he can be Doncic’s sidekick. Now that he has a new contract and a certified role, expect the guard to have a huge season this year.

LA also fixed their biggest weakness, which was center, by trading for Walker Kessler. Kessler is one of the NBA’s most effective rebounders and rim protectors, two areas the Lakers desperately needed help in. Kessler’s season was cut short due to injury, but has largely been durable, and has a lot of room to grow as a player. He should flourish next to Doncic.

The Lakers also added Quentin Grimes and Collin Sexton to give them more scoring off the bench. Ziaire Williams, Matisse Thybulle, and rookie Cameron Carr give them a revamped wing rotation with size, athleticism, and defense. They signed Sandro Mamukelashvili and Kevon Looney to round out their big man depth. 

This Laker roster looks a lot different and while defense may be a bit of a concern, this team has a ton of offensive firepower. They have creators and shooters for days and it will be tough for teams in the West to guard this attack. Doncic and Reaves are set to lead the way and if they do their part, then LA can hang with many teams out West.
