Happy 49th birthday to nine-time NBA All-Star, 1998 Rookie of the Year and 2024 Basketball Hall of Fame inductee, Vince Carter!
After being taken fifth-overall in the 1998 NBA Draft, Carter played the first seven years of his career with the still-new Toronto Raptors. He rewarded the Raptors with 18.3 points, 5.7 rebounds and 3.0 assists as a rookie. In his second year, he helped lead Toronto to the franchise’s first winning season, going 45-37 and making the playoffs for the first time.
Carter’s relationship would deteriorate with the Raptors, and he’d be traded to New Jersey during the 2004-05 season. He’d go on to set an NBA record for most seasons played at 22 (which was broken by LeBron James this year), spending time with Orlando, Phoenix, Dalla, Memphis, Sacramento and Atlanta before retiring after the 2020 season.
Carter and the city where he established himself as a professional were able to bury their respective hatchets, and the Raptors retired Carter’s No. 15 in November 2024.
Which brings us to today’s quiz. Carter racked up 15,728 points, 6,606 rebounds and 4,714 assists in 1,541 games – the fourth most in NBA history. With that being said, can you name every player to appear in at least 1,200 NBA games?
Good luck!
