The Philadelphia 76ers are trying to put a lost 2024-25 season behind them, and their 117-116 season-opening win over the Boston Celtics was a great start. 76ers guard Tyrese Maxey led the way with 40 points on 7-of-9 shooting from three-point range, but the biggest story of the game was rookie VJ Edgecombe.
Edgecombe was selected with the third-overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft out of Baylor, and the 20 year old wasted no time rewarding the Sixers by scoring 34 in a team-high 42 minutes, scoring the most points in an NBA debut since Wilt Chamberlain’s 43 in 1959.
Which brings us to today’s quiz. Edgecombe’s 34 points broke a Philadelphia record set by Allen Iverson in 1996, who scored 30 in his first NBA game. With that being said, can you name the player with the most points in their NBA debut for every franchise?
Good luck!
